Being a Hainanese myself, all the more I couldn't resist the temptation of paying Swee Bee a visit when I googled and saw some rave reviews about it. It has been much blogged about and I just got to find it, taste it and review it for myself. First thing we reached Batu Pahat is head towards it, arriving at around 3PM, way past the usual lunch hour but still brimmed with patrons aplenty, in small clusters around the shop.
Besides the fairer variation, they also serve up the dark roasted chicken, roasted pork and char siew, comes stacked atop a pile of blanched bean sprouts. The roast chicken surprisingly taste much better, very well marinated as compared to its fairer counterpart, which is sort of a disappointment. Not as tender and smooth as I would have expected. Rating: 7.0/10
Another of the must-order item. Crispy beancurd topped with generous amount of cucumber shreds, crushed peanuts and thai style dressing. Rating: 7.0/10.

Conclusion: For a Hainanese themed chicken rice shop, their steamed white chicken is supposed to be their mainstay but oddly turns out otherwise, to be the weaker link. The dark roasted chicken on the contrary wins hands down, with its flavorful and nicely marinated skin.View Larger Map
