Over the past weekend, I am fortunate to have my family with me on this exploration trip to MAIO, a well hidden gem tucked into the back seat of M Suites Hotel. I'm pretty confident not much Johoreans are aware of its existence, and hopefully not for long as it would truly be a waste for it to vanish from the local arena.

In eager anticipation for my 3 course set meal :)

An in-sight to their set meal, to be offset with the vouchers that I had purchased on a coupon website recently.

A closer look at the menu

Here's a little something to manage the hunger pangs in me - slices of bread to go with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Soup of the day - French Onion Soup, and I love it to the very last sip. To be fair, I have never tasted onion soup before so I obviously can't say for sure if this is good, great or fantastic. You know, the melted cheese atop the soup obviously brings another layer of texture and flavor to the overall experience.Yummy !

Or you can go for some greens. Nothing out of the extraordinary but not disappointing either.

Pasta D'Maio - Spaghetti was done al dente & spices were aplenty in the tomato sauce. It's in my opinion, a dish with a million flavors.

My picture might not give the Chicken Cacciatore the credit it deserves, but this IS the highlight of my today's food excursion to MAIO. This is simply the best lot among the dishes I have sampled. Trust me, you should give it a go. The pan fried chicken breast is amazingly tender, succulent & shines with its well marinated, crisp char-grilled skin.

Marinara La Pizza with a crispy, thin crust loaded with fresh tomatoes & melting mozzarella cheese ... how can anybody resist this ? Certainly not me ! Positive note aside, I can't get over the fact there are just so "many" mussels, shrimp & squid scattered across the top of my pizza. Surely they can be more generous with it ?

A picture speaks a thousand words .. and it all sums up our experience at MAIO today.

Wait ... there's more to come. A finale to an enjoyable gastronomic experience, Matcha Gelato ! It's one of the best I have tasted in a while ... all that matcha goodness fused into the thick, creamy ice cream.

Tempted to make a reservation already ? Here's a little something to make it happen for all.

Price: 6.0/10
Service: 7.0/10
Conclusion: At a loss for words at the moment, please go try it for yourself. Highly recommended !
