Undeniably, Johor Bahru still has some catch up to do, but with the entry of these 2 (potential) game changers, I see some light at the end of the tunnel and possibly more options for our buffet lovers in the future.
I sincerely hope BLD Café does not disappoint :)
One can opt for a cozy, quiet corner in isolation with your loved ones
Or get oneself a seat in a spacious area with other diners.
An overview of the buffet spreads and truth be told, the picture doesn't really compliment what's on offered in BLD Café. A wide angle lens should do the trick but I'm still saving up on one :)
For the dim sum lovers at heart.
Something truly Malaysia - chargrilled satay right in front of your eyes, waiting to be served piping hot.
A selection of satay (chicken, mutton or beef) to choose from.
Satay is never complete without it - peanut sauce !
** Beware - people with peanut allergy
Fresh oysters on a mountain of ice. I will probably have to skip - Next !
I can probably eat up to a dozen or more of these ice cold poached prawns .
I'll just stop at one or two, never a mussel lover myself.
Crayfish on offer at BLD Café, and seldom do you find one in a buffet at Johor Bahru. Needless to say, demand is more than supply.
Japanese food aficionado rejoice - Salmon sashimi and sushi rolls are available here as well !
Riding along the K(orean) wave, appetizers such as kimchi, fermented scallops & octopus also make their appearance here.
Kudos to BLD Café, crayfish are replaced with another member of the crustacean family - crabs when supplies ran out.
Humongous tikka fish head which I don't even have any idea where to begin with. Needless to say, I decided not to mess with it and leave the fish head in solitude.
Vegetables & condiments to go with the curry
People with a sweet tooth would jump right into this - Dessert section.
Pastries are kneaded and baked in full view of the dinner crowd.
Buffet dinner is at a reasonable price of RM80++ per person.
Price: 6.0/10
Service: 7.5/10
Conclusion: It may not be the most affordable, nor the best but game changer ? YES, it's by far the closest I've come about in Johor Bahru. They no doubt have the potential to be one.
