This isn't in the Batu Pahat itinerary but an impromptu decision to just stop over and have our dinner. We cursed our luck, after going around BP town searching left and right to only find out all those that featured in our plan was closed for the day. Geezzzz ... final resort was to then head to Batu Pahat Mall where we can get a selections of restaurants, cafes or fast food. Along the way, we chance upon Chor. Seems pretty decent and packed with patrons, so we decided to give this a try.
Sambal kang kong, not too greasy and you can taste the dried shrimp bits in the sambal paste. Rating: 6.5/10
Stir fried pork ribs with bittergourd. Not very appealing in terms of look or taste, and the ribs were tough and overcooked. Rating: 5.0/10
Boss's recommendation and saving grace for the dinner, Steamed pomfret in Teochew style. Rating: 7.0/10
Price: 6.5/10
Service: 7.0/10
Conclusion: It wasn't the sort of meal I would have expected from my trip, no surprises nor any woo-haa from Chor, but it's decent enough for somebody looking for a simple yet reasonably-priced dinner. Afterall, Batu Pahat seems to be lacking of places for a decent meal once the sky turns dark.
