Peperoni Pizzeria is one of the three pizzerias owned by the Les Amis Group. They recently opened their 2nd Peperoni branch at Binjai Park Singapore, with a bar that lines the exterior and a much roomier interior compared to the main outlet at Greenwood Avenue. It's my first time here at the Binjai Park outlet, and they are much more accessible for folks commuting by public transport. On the other hand, the main outlet at Greenwood Avenue is less accessible on foot, probably got to walk 10-15 minutes from the nearest bus stop. Both joints are located in the prime district of Singapore (Bukit Timah) and nestled within landed properties.

This is one of the places where you can get good and reasonably priced Italian cuisine. They serve wonderful thin crust pizzas and if you are there for a gathering with family or friends, you can even order their XXL pizza (21 inches). At least it's something different from the usual suspect, Pizza Hut or California Pizza. They do serve decent pasta as well. Over here you get to choose from the list of Aglio Olio, Bolognese, Carbonara, Vongole, etc etc with a choice of your favourite pasta (Angel hair, Fussilli, Fettucini, Linguine, Spaghetti, Penne). I personally love the thick, creamy Carbonara with Fettucini (I do not recommend ordering it, for people who can't take heavy, cheesy stuffs). On my next trip here, I'm going to try their Seafood Risotto :D

Finally I can put pen to paper, a long overdue article of Re Della Pasta. This is my 2nd visit to the F&B chain, my 1st was at KSL shopping centre (you can read my article here). Gut instinct from the initial encounter was, Re Della can provide me with the much needed ammunition to conjure a decent review, with its extensive, yet creative range of items on the menu. It can be a daunting task for one to vet through it, facing constant bombardment by names of Italian dishes being hurled towards me. The constant flipping back and forth doesn't help and only adds on to one's dilemma. Having said that, amidst all the dilemmas and confusions, there will definitely be something in the list that will manage to tempt one's palate.

Got a deal for this over Groupon again, paying RM15 for a RM30 cash voucher. Needless to say, it just wasn't enough to cover the expenses one has to spend over here for a meal. RM30 can't probably get you a plate of pasta to be honest, more likely offsetting the service charge and government tax. It wasn't my first time here, second time as a matter of fact but it could possibly be my last time.

Had a rather disappointing experience the first time round, but nonetheless greed prompted me to get the Groupon voucher and give this place another shot. I couldn't describe how disappointed I was (not with the food, but specifically the manager). One knows how irritating to be constantly bombarded with offers for meal upgrades, how about trying our Wagyu, how about going for Japanese scallops instead of frozen ones, how about more appetizer to go with your meal or how about having some wine .. and it goes on and on even with my constant refusal to budge.

Rooted just besides Aeon Tebrau City, the shophouses are gradually blooming with a selections of Japanese restaurants and cafes. Truth be told, it still pales in comparison to varieties and numbers from those around Aeon Bukit Indah vicinity. Nonetheless, JB Foodie still managed to unearth one gem from the basket - Cestino Bakery & Bistro. Decorations are simplistic, no fuss and dominated with an imposing portrait sketch of Marilyn Monroe. For me, the place works out to be a good place for some rejuvenating personal time, sipping on a cuppa with a book in hand idling the time away. Joints like these usually serve good coffee, tasty pastries and cakes but crappy food ... barring all my biased, negative thoughts, I hope I'm not right on the spot again.

Amber@West Restaurant is equipped with a state-of-the-art open kitchen where guests can watch their dishes being prepared live, by students from the School of Hospitality. Regardless of the students' relative inexperience, they manage to conjour up a magnificent attitude by putting on their very best to accede to each and every of our request. Imperfections are of course warranted in this case, and what's there to complain when you are getting fine dining at neighbourhood prices. It's a win-win situation in my opinion, bringing fine dining into the heartlands at inexpensive prices and at the same time, providing the young, budding chefs an opportunity to hone their skills.

I've been to Moonlight Cake House on numerous occasions before, either for lunch, tea-break, dinner or just simply getting a birthday cake. On top of the numerous cakes stacked on display which one can buy off the shelf, they do take orders for customised cake as well. However, the cake is not the main story today, but more of their food. This is their latest outlet at Taman Austin which I went to today for dinner.

Where can you head to when you start to have craving for decent food in the old city centre of Johor Bahru. Located in the midst of old shophouses along Jalan Dhoby, you can find a little cafe boasting it serves "The Best Chicken Chop in Johor Bahru". Although I do not second that tagline wholeheartedly, but they definitely rank as one of the top in my list. If you still have some time to spare after the meal, you could head opposite where you can find a little Indian bakery, old school stuffs ! According to my Dad (he used to live nearby in the mid 1900s), the little bakery has been around for a long time, ever since he was a teenager.

Diversity might not be the theme at play in Junction10, but it does come with a few reputable cafes (just to name a few Kungfu Paradise, Paradise Inn, Toast Box) when you feel like spending that extra bucks to pamper yourself, or alternatively NTUC food fare and the kiosks lined across the main entrance to save up on the ka-ching.
Now, there's this new outlet lying diagonally across the entrance of Giant hypermart, it caught my attention and I had been wanting to give it a try since I last saw it. Seems to me as a fusion between Italian and Japanese cuisine, might not be as much as a cultural shock compared to a decade back but still, it kept my interest going. So today, I finally had the opportunity to give it a try.

A casual dining concept for the chic & young at heart, where East meets West. It is a good place to chill out with friends over a plate of tasty Oriental or Western dish. It got me curious with its peculiar and cheesy name, looks like some cheap imitation following on the trail of the widely-popular animated movie Kungfu Panda. A check on the internet reveals otherwise, it belongs to part of the Paradise Group of restaurants, which has numerous outlets of varying concepts all around Singapore's prime locations, ION Orchard, Marina Bay & Singapore Flyer, just to name a few. Paradise Inn as introduced before in my blog, belongs to the group as well. Today, I've managed to free up some time after work and enjoy a chill out session with my friends at this newly opened joint @ Junction 10.

"You went Deep Water for your birthday celebration just now ?" That got me pondering for a moment, "Where exactly is this new joint in Johor Bahru ?". The answer I've gotten was "Jalan Serempang, along the same row of shophouses as Gianni's". Ohhhhh ... and I was told they share the same boss. Interesting and that really got me excited, can it mean they are serving something with mediterranean flavours, that's the 1st idea that came to my mind when I heard of the word "Deep Water". Afterall, I've never had a chance to try but lust at some of those mediterranean cuisines I've grown accustomed to watching on Food Channel. Then came the knock from my friend ... "Hello, it's Sweet Water, not Deep Water".

The cafe aims to replicate the American dining experience by offering their GlamBurgers, gigantic patties for people with humongous appetite. A concept of multi-layered burger that targets to challenge the expansive limits of one's stomach. To be frank, the decoration or menu at best, offers neligible hints of their half-hearted intentions. Their location wasn't exactly situated at the best spot as well, hidden between rows and rows of shophouses, within the maze of Taman Sutera. It's just one of the cafes among all the eateries, if you get what I mean.

This place needs no further introduction, as I've done so in my previous post. It's one of my parents' favorite place for a luncheon, 忙里偷闲, shying away from the hot tropical sun. In recent times, that biased perception in me, of the Hong Kong cafes out there serving crappy food has also started receding with a large part attributed to Let's Eat. I'm beginning to see the light and accept Hong Kong cafes in Johor Bahru with a different perspective.

(Please visit here for the latest article) Was dropping by to KSL City shopping mall on a weekday, after work to get my new wireless modem after my D-Link got busted by Zeus (The almighty King of God living on Mount Olympus in Greek mythodology, ring a bell ?) . The strike was so incredible that it had my telephone line fried and the adapter exploded ! Sounds scary eh...but that's the truth. I arrived home last week to see the remains of my modem adapter lying in smithereens on the floor. The lucky part, there was no fire outbreak and ironically, I had to thank God himself for keeping my house still in one piece.

So there I was, ending up at Re Della Pasta after getting my modem, feeling famished but not keen to head home so early for fear of getting stuck in the daily traffic jam after office hours. Choices are aplenty in KSL but this is probably one I would love to try and yet to try ... I'm always game for Italian food. The containers of fusilli, fettuccine, linguine, penne, farfalle etc etc dominated the outlet's facade, and that's what caught my attention.

The interior and ambience is nothing to shout about, minor decorations here and there but yet nothing to suggest this place serves Italian cusine. Besides this, another minus factor is the air-conditioning which doesn't seem to be functioning as expected, luckily they have installed numerous ceiling fans to circulate the ventilation, otherwise I would have stepped out immediately. Can't dine properly while I'm sweating away and suffocating right. Luckily, my threshold has not been breached and can still dine in comfort.

One thing for certain, their menu is extensive and it can get a bit mind-boggling to narrow down amongst all the pastas, pizzas and mains. Variety is good, a wide selection is even better but its certainly not authentic Italian food which they are serving here. More like fusion food, to cater to the mass's taste bud...fair enough but this isn't exactly really what I'm yearning for at that moment. Disappointment is definite but still containable, oh well just have to make do with what's available then.

This is my 1st ever invitation to a food sampling event ever since I started blogging in less than a year, and I have to thank both Eight Lido and Euginn (an enthusiastic and outgoing character) for the invite. Alot of people I met at the event asked me the same question, "What got you started into all the, blogging, food reviews, etc ?" and my reply was simple ... "I dine out frequently, have no qualms trying out new makan places (I know of people who aren't just adventurous enough to try something different) and in actual fact, I love exploring new makan grounds. Coinciding with the new found hobby of taking pictures, I thought it would be a good thing to get myself started, by blogging to share the passion I have for both food and photography combined. Afterall, what use is there if all that goodness in kept under lock & key, with nobody to share with and appreciate.

I remember blogging about them on my last trip here, and the review wasn't good coming from me, mainly due to the unforgivingly long waiting time for our food to be served. This time round, I am much more impressed by their eagerness to serve up the meal.

A cosy, little deli shop at the Rail Mall in the Upper Bukit Timah area offering authentic Italian cusine from salads, antipasti, soups to a selection of main course, pasta and dessert. And of course, without being too harsh on your wallet. The ambience allows for a date with your loved ones for anniversaries, a quick lunch with your fellow colleagues or bonding with your family over pasta. pizzas and fine wine.

I was there for a quick meal with my colleagues though, a team lunch to be exact. Looking to tighten the string on your purse ? Then you can try out their lunch set menu ranging from SGD18++ to SGD24++, comprising of starter, main, coffee/tea and dessert. There is a selection of starters and mains to choose from, whichever tingles your tastebud.
